Mildred Spreen

Mildred M. Spreen, 90, widow of John W. Spreen, passed away peacefully October 31, 2018 in Brenham, Texas surrounded by family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2018 at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. Pastor Jill Vivroux will officiate with burial to follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Mildred M. Spreen was born September 15, 1928 in Prairie Hill to Fred C. and Maria Sommer Jeske. She was baptized on October 21, 1928 and confirmed April 18, 1943. On December 1, 1946, she married her loving husband to whom she was married for almost sixty nine years before his passing. They were the first couple to sit together in the church pew, when men and women traditionally sat on each side of the aisle.

Mildred was employed by Germania Insurance for sixteen years before changing to her career of being a full time Mother and rancher. She enjoyed both and put her heart and soul into everything she did.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Kim and Bruce Weilbacher of San Antonio, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Spreen, her parents, Fred C. and Maria Sommer Jeske, and her brothers, Glen L. Jeske and Buddy Jeske.

Serving as pallbearers are Kenneth Lange, Vernon Wagner, Zach Wagner, Marvin Haevischer, Marvin Spreen, Charles Giese, and Bruce Weilbacher. Honorary pallbearers are Glen W. Jeske and Robert W. Jeske.
