Industry, TX

Michael Duane Schovajsa, 66, passed away surrounded by his family at his home in Welcome, Texas on March 20, 2026. He was born February 13, 1960, to Raymond and Betty Schovajsa.

On July 2, 1983, he married the love of his life, Kerri Wittneben.  Together, they were blessed with two sons, Chad and Cory.

Michael spent many years working as a truck driver hauling heavy equipment and freight. He was a hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family.

A true lover of the simple joys of life, Michael enjoyed firing up the barbecue pit, listening to old country and polka music, woodworking, trail riding and sharing a cold beer with family and friends. Known for his warm smile and big heart, Michael made people feel welcome and loved wherever he went.

His greatest pride and joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, proud father, and loving grandfather who cherished time spent with his sons and grandsons.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Kerri Schovajsa; his sons Chad Schovajsa and wife Alyssa, and Cory Schovajsa and fiancé Natalie; and his grandsons Scott Bennett, Wayne Michael, and Mack Michael. He is also survived by his brother Donald Schovajsa and wife Alice, his mother-in-law Lynn Wittneben, and nephew Brandon Schovajsa, and brother in laws Mark Wittneben and Brian Wittneben wife Blair Wittneben and nieces Lane and Grey Wittneben.

He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Betty Schovajsa, and his father-in-law Leonard Wittneben.

Michael will be remembered for his love of family, his beautiful smile, and the way he always made sure to tell the people he loved, “I love you.” We take comfort knowing he is at peace and will be there, ready to greet us with his beautiful smile when we reunite once again.
