Marilyn Fetrow

September 18, 1948 — February 4, 2023

York, PA

Marilyn J. Fetrow, 74, a longtime resident of York, PA passed away Feb. 4, 2023 in Brenham, Texas.  Marilyn was born Sept. 18, 1948 in York, PA.  She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Verna (Landis) Newcomer, her husband of 39 years,  Robert D. Fetrow, and stepson, Robert E. Fetrow.

She is survived by one sibling, Terry L. Newcomer, wife Diana Newcomer and  Michael L. Fetrow of York, PA. She had numerous nieces and nephews.  John Newcomer (Cheryl), Chris Newcomer (Michelle), Jenni Newcomer Cutbirth (David), Jeremy Newcomer (Jennifer), Brian Newcomer (Brittany) and Michal Newcomer.  She also had numerous great nieces and nephews as well as Raelyn Cutbirth who preceded her in death.

She retired from teaching from South Western High School where she was a High School English teacher.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Millersville State University and her Masters from Penn State University York.  Marilyn worked part time for the Make-A-Wish Foundation for 6 years and served on various boards after her retirement.   She was a mentor for the Brenham Independent School District, and served on the board of Family Ties and the Fortnightly Club of Brenham.

Her hobbies included baking, crocheting, knitting and cross stitching.  All the family members looked forward to receiving all the heartfelt and handmade gifts she lovingly  made for them.

Graveside services will be held Feb. 24th at 10:00 am in York, PA at the Mount Rose Cemetery located at 1502 Mount Rose Avenue.    Family and friends should meet at 9:45 at the cemetery entrance on Rose Hill Avenue.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation located at 2951 Whiteford Road, Suite 304, York, PA 17402.

She was loved by all of her family and friends and will be dearly missed.


Scriptures to be read during graveside services as a testament to her love of serving others:

1st John 3:18: Dear children, let us not love with only words or speech, but with actions and truth.

Acts 20:35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said:  “It is more blessed to give than to receive”.
