Marice Wills

Marice Boyett Wills of Brenham, Texas, died peacefully May 18, 2024 at the age of 91.

Marice was born January 4, 1933 in San Antonio, Texas to Phyllis Giles and Aaron Patrick Boyett. She married the love of her life, Marvin C. Wills Sr., on October 10, 1953 in San Marcos, Texas. The two resided in Brenham where they were charter members of Calvary Baptist Church.

Marice was a 1951 graduate of San Marcos High School. She began her professional career at the First National Bank of Brenham where she was a bookkeeper. She then joined the staff of the Brenham State School in 1972 at the school’s cashier and worked there until her retirement in 1992.

Marice loved to travel and went on many adventures with Marvin and their close friends. She loved to visit with people, and you could always guarantee that she would find someone to talk to and catch up with anywhere she went. She will be remembered by her soft smile and her infectious laugh.

Marice was the proudest of being the wife to a Texas Game Warden and being NeeNee to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was never one to say “No” to her grandkids and always welcomed a messy house, with a pantry full of goodies, and a trip to Walmart.

She was a devoted wife and a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Marice is survived by her daughter Marla Sams and husband, Jay, of Cat Spring, her son Marvin Wills Jr. and wife, Katie, of Gatesville; grandchildren Phyllis Sams, Jason Sams and wife, Shae, Sarah Knight and husband, Kynn, Rachael Creel and husband, Sam; great grandchildren Blaize Sams, Marley Sams, Jase Sams, Charlie Knight, Charlotte Knight, Leon Creel, Stella Creel, Reece Creel; brother-in-law Marion Wills; numerous nieces and nephews; and very special friends Diana Lampe and Joan and Owen Zeiss.

Marice was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin C. Wills Sr.; parents, Phyllis and Aaron Boyett; and brother, Pat Boyett.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 24, 2024 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.  The family will not be present during this time.

Pallbearers include Jason Sams, Kynn Knight, Sam Creel, Charlie Knight, Leon Creel, and Blaize Sams.

Honorary pallbearers include Phyllis Sams, Sarah Knight, Rachael Creel, Marley Sams, Charlotte Knight, Stella Creel, Reece Creel, and Jase Sams.

Memorials may be given in her name to Calvary Baptist Church, Brenham, Texas, or Hospice Brazos Valley.
