Funeral Mass for Maria Amalia Ortiz, 73, wife of Juan Ortiz, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 15, 2011 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Chappell Hill, with Father Jozef Musial, Officiant. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A Rosary will be celebrated Friday evening at 7:00 a.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Maria Ortiz passed away January 11, 2011 in Scott and White Hospital in Brenham. She is survived by her husband, Juan Ortiz; sons and daughters-in-law Juan and Martha Ortiz, Rodolfo and Maria Ortiz, Jorge and Ofilia Ortiz, Reynaldo and Melissa Ortiz, and Raymundo and Martha Ortiz; daughters and sons-in-law Maria and Florentino Hernandez, and Maria and Conradio Salas; brothers Jacinto Gomez, Fabian Gomez, and Miguel Gomez; sisters-in-law Cirila Gomez, Esperanza Gomez, Margarita Gomez, and Abelina Gomez. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Maria was born July 10, 1937 in San Felipe, Guanajuato, Mexico to Asuncion Gomez and Julia Martinez Gomes. She was a homemaker, residing in Chappell Hill, Texas. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham. 979836-4564.
