Marguerite Dement

Marguerite Walters Dement, 95, of Brenham, TX, died Sept. 25, 2003, in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mrs. Dement was born Dec. 9, 1907, in Starks, LA, to James Clark and Garnet Rose Mazilly Walters. She earned her bachelor s degree from Sam Houston State University and her master s degree from Southwest Texas State University. On May 26, 1935, she married Robert Lee Dement in Magnolia, TX. Mrs. Dement was a teacher for 44 years, teaching in Magnolia, Boling and Galena Park. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma since 1949, serving as president of two chapters. She was a member of Bethany Christian Church. Survivors include her sister, Evelyn Schmidt of Conroe; sister-in-law, Ira Zuehlke of Burton; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Dement; her brother, James Milton Walters; and sister, Louise Walters Parnell. The funeral service will be held Saturday, Sept. 27 at 2:00 p.m. in Bethany Christian Church in Burton with Robert Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Burton. The family will receive visitors from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. today at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. Pallbearers will be Robert Steve Dement, John Andrew Dement, Harold B. Dement, James H. Coward, Darell Kieke and Ricky Struck. Memorials may be given to Camp For All in Burton or the CWF of Bethany Christian Church in Burton. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Foehner Funeral Home in Burton.
