Louis H. Gaskamp, Jr., 89, passed away March 25, 2019 in Houston.
Louis H. Gaskamp was born November 15, 1929 in Independence, Texas to Louis and Louise (Finke) Gaskamp. He was baptized January 5, 1930 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill by Pastor Czerkus, and confirmed April 6, 1944 at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill by Pastor Paul Goglin.
Louis served in the U. S. Army with the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea from 1951 – 1952, and was a member of the American Legion Post 48 and VFW #7104 of Brenham.
On June 4, 1955, he married Loretta Novak at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Needville. Upon moving to Houston in 1954, Louis was engaged as a building superintendent in home construction for many years. In 1980 he became self-employed as an independent fee inspector for the Veterans Administration and Home Owners Warranty.
Mr. Gaskamp was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Louise Gaskamp; brothers Perry, Garrett, Leroy and Rueben Gaskamp; sisters Verda Gaskamp; Pearl Hugo and husband, Melvin Hugo; sisters-in-law Evelyn Novak, Rosalie Gaskamp, and Miriam Gaskamp; brother-in-law Al Metz;
Louis is survived by his wife, Loretta Gaskamp; sister Betty Lueckemeyer and husband Roland; sister-in-law, Dell Metz; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Raymond and Jinny Novak, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 11511 Telge Road, Cypress, Texas 77429.
