Louanna Jennings

December 4, 1927 — January 9, 2020

Louanna Armer Jennings, 92, of Chappell Hill, Texas and Houston, Texas went to be with her Lord on Thursday, January 9, 2020 in Brenham, Texas.

Louanna was born in her family home in the Heights in Houston, Texas on December 4, 1927 to Christine Hansen Armer and William (Willie) Ernest Armer. She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Houston, Texas. Her early school years were spent at Immanuel Lutheran School with her lifelong friend (like a sister, and Godmother to her daughter Carol) Margaret Atsinger Ludwig. Margaret's husband Paul, was a former Pastor at Grace Lutheran Church, Brenham, Texas. Louanna and Margaret have continued to be close friends all these years, even though they have lived many miles apart. Louanna completed her high school years, graduating from Reagan High School in the Heights in Houston, Texas. After high school she worked for a glass company for a short time before getting married.

On October 30, 1948 Louanna married William (Bill) Bernard Jennings at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas, and they lived in the Heights until they moved to their new home in the Oak Forest area of Houston. During the time she lived in Houston she was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church where she was a Charter member and taught Sunday School. In 1981, Louanna and Bill moved to Chappell Hill, Texas where they built a house to retire in the country. They enjoyed the country life with their chickens, and with fish and ducks in their pond. Since moving to Chappell Hill, she has been a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Brenham, and has been an active member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) Afternoon Circle.

Louanna had a lifelong love of gardening whether it was her mother's pink roses or narcissus, or the large vegetable garden she and Bill planted near their country home. She always has surrounded herself with plants and flowers.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Anne Owens and her husband, Harvey Taylor Owens of Houston, Texas and son, William Scott Jennings of Brenham, Texas.

Louanna is also survived by her granddaughter, Amanda Marianna McKay and her husband, Gregory Michael McKay of Jacksonville, Arkansas and their children, great-granddaughters, Maria Julietta Grace and Vera Cordelia Pearl, and great-grandson, Jack (due June, 2020).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Christine Hansen Armer & William (Willie) Ernest Armer; her sister, Doris Elizabeth Armer; her husband, William Bernard Jennings; and her youngest son, Richard Wayne Jennings.
