Loretta Marie Hodde, 87, of Brenham, and the widow of Dr. Herman O. Hodde, died November 28, 2003 at the family residence in Brenham. She was born November 6, 1916, in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, the daughter of Michael and Marie Raatz Knipfer, next to the youngest of five children. Loretta graduated from the Atlantic City Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse on October 17, 1941, and served in the US Army Air Corps from December 1941 to February 1944 as a flight nurse. She was stationed at Chanute Field, Illinois, Long Beach, California and Palm Springs, California during that period. She resided in Brenham, Texas from 1944 until her death where she was a member of St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, Buddy Wright Post #48. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, 1st Lt. Dellie O. Ullrich, US Army Air Corps, in 1943, and by her second husband, Dr. Herman O. Hodde on March 4, 1996. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law; Patrick and Carolyn Ullrich of Pagosa Springs, Colorado; son, Charles H. Hodde of Brenham; grandson, Colin P. Ullrich of Conroe; granddaughter, Tiffany L. Ullrich of Boulder, Colorado; great-grandson, Joshua Hunter; sister, Vera Zerba of Hastings, Michigan; brother, and sister-in-law, Ivan and Virginia Knipfer of Two Rivers, Wisconsin, and a host of nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Loretta Marie Hodde will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 2, 2003, in St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Lawrence Bade and Pastor Kim Little-Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in the Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Memorials may be given to the American Red Cross, 509 South Baylor Street, Brenham, Texas 77833. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, Texas 77833.
