Lois Masters

January 19, 1927 — May 20, 2023

Kingwood, TX

Lois Alma Bayne Masters passed away in her 96th year on 20 May 2023, while residing in Kingwood, Texas. Lois was born 19 January 1927, in Houston, Texas, and lived and attended school in the Heights area. Lois is preceded in death by her mother, Alma Ellen Ross and her father, Aubrey McKay Bayne (Bain). Lois Bayne Masters is survived by her 3 children: Andrea, Morris, and Mark who lived and went to school in Spring Branch, Houston, Texas; plus, she has 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren all of whom have made her feel blessed. What a blessing to see how her life has been passed on to future generations. Music and art and education have been gifts on her side of the family that have blessed these next generations.

One difficulty of her life was the outbreak of WWII when high school graduation was accelerated a couple of years, graduating students at age 16. Through those difficult war years there were many losses of family friends, classmates, and loved ones, and she always valued the struggles of those returning with trauma and severe disabilities. My parents honored veterans and their service and sacrifices. They set this example for us.

From our early years, our parents instilled in us the values of life-long learning both in school and out of school, they valued the lessons of history, and they taught us that all people are equal before God and should be highly esteemed.

I remember my mom, Lois, as kind-hearted towards other people and wanting to be helpful and useful in life. I remember her playing the piano and singing and how much that inspired me to love music. She loved church, gardening, cooking, reading, sewing, history, and the music of classics, hymns, and melodious songs.  She revered God and gave me a sense of deep respect and awe that God was the one we should be trying to please and not people.

My mother has now passed into eternity in God’s hands.  And He can honor her for what she did well in the healthy years, and He can heal all the wounds, and He can dry all the tears. Now, she has music, and beauty, and peace, and the love of God which surpasses anything that we on earth can know. For I know that He is a Glorious Lord and the King of glory: Perfect in righteousness and justice and truth, and Perfect in mercy.
