Lee Fred Schroeder passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 6, 2026, at the age of 87. He was born on September 21, 1938, in Needville, TX to Erich and Hennie Klussmann Schroeder. He graduated from Bellville High School. On June 6, 1965, he married Barbara Scurlock and was happily married for 61 years.
He was in tile and floor covering business and worked at Fischer Tile and Floor Covering for many years before owning Brenham Tile and Floor until his retirement.
Lee was a man of few words but treasured his family. He was proud of his daughters, but especially his grandchildren. Dad's one in joy in life was spent outdoors with his hunting buddies. These hunting trips were more about bringing home game-they were about the friendships built over countless seasons together. Those trips were filled with laughter, stories that grew a little taller each year, and memories that will live on in the hearts of everyone, fortunate enough to share them. His friends were more than hunting partners, they were family. They called themselves the Poor Boy Hunters. Dad treasured those moments, and the friendships he built along the way became some of the most meaningful parts of his life.
Lee is preceded in death by his parents, Erich and Hennie Schroder; sister, Betty Schroeder; parents-in-law, Alvin and Minnie Scurlock; brother-in-law, Lawrence Hemann; aunt, Emma Schroeder; uncle Albin Schroeder as well as many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his daughters and sons-in-law: Jennifer and Brian Lorenz, Sheila and Scott Neumann, and Shelby and Grant Parker; his grandchildren: Kourtney and Justin Cook, Karley and Justin Brending, Josh and Stephanie Neumann, Jordan Neumann, Kolbie Parker and Ty Parker; great grandchildren: John and Allison Cook, Bailey, James, and Mallory Neumann, and Liam Neumann; sister-in-law: Ruth Hemann; nieces and nephews: Karen and Wil Schulz and Kevin and Shelly Hemann; great nieces and nephews and cousins.
A visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2026 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.
The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2026 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 305. W 3rd St. in Brenham, with Rev. Donna Krueger officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.
