March 11, 1955 — April 30, 2026

Brenham, TX

Kim Steven Strickland passed away on April 30, 2026 in the hospital in College Station, Texas and now is at peace.

Kim was born March 11, 1955 in Brenham, Texas to Nello Strickland, Jr. and Dorothy Jane (Moerbe) Strickland. He was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church on March 27, 1955. He was confirmed on March 30, 1969. He grew up with 2 brothers and graduated from Woodlawn High School. Kim met his special lady – Sherry Lynn Harper and they were married on July 22, 1986 in Somerville, Tx.

He was gifted with many talents that emerged in childhood and continued throughout his life. Wherever he lived, Kim sought nature and books as his muse and would use his talents to share his passion with the world. Kim’s artistic visions included the building of beautiful objects by hand, including ornate mausoleums and steel structure to welcome visitors to event venues. Kim was inspired by the West Texas landscapes while living in Alpine, Texas and painted numerous canvases that he shared with those close to him.

Kim had an adventurous spirit as well and enjoyed attending Rendezvous, or mountain man gatherings throughout the south. A life-long learner, Kim was naturally inquisitive and aspired to be a student of the world. Kim could always be found with a book in his hand and he appreciated conversations with others whom he could share his knowledge. This included having friendly sparring matches over subjects he had read about.

Kim was stranger to none, and would always strike up a conversation with everyone he met from the waitress at the cafe to an online acquaintance. Kim was a man who appreciated his family history and enjoyed researching his genealogy and dreamed of traveling to England to view his ancestor’s castle grounds. Kim was a deep thinker who strived to see, learn and understand the vast world around him.

Kim is survived by his wife, Sherry Lynn (Harper) Strickland, his mother, Dorothy Strickland; his son and daughter-in-law: Mark and Kristen Tyson; his brother and sister-in-law: Don and Sheri Strickland and sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Patsy and Louis Nagel along with 3 grandchildren: Soren, Lydia and Crete. He also was blessed with a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. He also loved his pet girls: Lizzie Mae and Sophie.

Kim was preceded in death by his father, Nello Strickland, Jr. and his brother, Nello (Trey) Strickland III.

Family will honor him with a graveside service at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, May 4, 2026 at Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville, Tx. Reverend Henry Sanders will officiate the service.
