Kenneth Nixon

Kenneth Lee Ken Nixon, 86, of Carmine, died Saturday morning in Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center, Brenham. Mr. Nixon was born April 18, 1917, in Brown County, Texas to Thomas Lee and Bessie Lynn Thomas Nixon. He served in the US Army during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the EAMC Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Service Stars and 1 Bronze Arrowhead. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Burton. Survivors include one brother, Laurel Nixon of Carmine, Texas; two sisters, Kathleen Harrison of Carmine, Texas, and Patricia Vanderburg of Aransas Pass, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive friends and relatives from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., Sunday, February 1, 2004, in Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service for Kenneth Lee Nixon will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, February 2, 2004, in Memorial Oaks Chapel with Pastor Jack Broadwater officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Burton. Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church, 920 Colorado Street, Burton, TX 77835. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, TX 77833.
