Ken Burch

October 26, 1962 — July 23, 2025

Brenham, TX

Ken Owen Burch, Sr. entered the gates of heaven on July 23, 2025, in the earliest hours of the morning, with his wife Karla at his side.

Ken was the eighth child born to Joseph Norbert Burch and Evelyn Maurine (Elliott) Burch on October 26, 1962. As a child and young adult, Ken's memories of fishing in Galveston at his family's beach house gave him a love for the coast and fishing that lasted his whole life.

Ken graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in 1981, where he met his wife of almost 43 years, Karla Kay (Voss) Burch. On August 14, 1982, they married in Grandma and Paw Paw's back yard in Houston, Texas. Together they raised four Burch men: Blake, Ken Jr., Jacob and Joseph, which gave way to four Burch grandsons: Grady, Jackson, Bryce and Drew. Ken and Karla's family was made up of humor, hard work, delicious food and forgiveness.

Ken was a talented machinist and a great teacher of his craft. He passed on his work ethic on to his sons and grandsons. His time in the shop made up a huge part of his life. Throughout his life, he never forgot the lessons learned during his childhood days around the family business, Burch Machine.

Ken was a member of Berachah Church in Houston, Texas. It was there that he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Ken consistently shared the good news of eternal life through Jesus Christ. He encouraged everyone to ask for forgiveness for their sins, put down their old life and follow God.

Ken is survived by his wife of almost 43 years, Karla Kay (Voss) Burch, his sons: Blake Burch (Hockley), Ken Burch and his wife Katie (Brenham), Jacob Burch (Manvel), and Joseph Burch (Manvel), four grandsons: Grady Burch (Brenham), Jackson Burch (Brenham), Bryce Burch (Kingwood/Hockley), and Drew Burch (Kingwood/Hockley), siblings Diane Bishop, Cynthia Durnil, Janet Cobb, Norbert Burch, Valerie Webb, Gwen Richards, Anita Morrison, Eric Burch and Monique McGuinn Rector, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Evelyn Burch, his sister Sharon Brown, and his brother Robert Burch.

Ken's legacy is an unfailing love for the Lord, and his family will miss him dearly. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, July 26 at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham, Texas at 10:00 am, followed by a gravesite service at Prairie Lea Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers for Ken will be Blake Burch, Ken Burch, Jr., Jacob Burch, Joseph Burch, Grady Burch, Jackson Burch, Bryce Burch and Drew Burch. A reception and meal will be at Washington County Expo Sales Facility (use the entrance on Old Independence Road).

Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley.
