Obituary

June Margaret (Whiddon) Dreyer, 94, of Brenham, the widow of James “Leroy” Dreyer, passed away peacefully Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026, in Brenham.

June was born on June 20, 1932, at 6:00 p.m. at Milroy Hospital in Brenham TX to Thomas and Ruth Whiddon. She weighed 12 ½ pounds and 24 inches long and was one of the largest babies born at this hospital. On August 30, 1950, she married the love of her life, Leroy Dreyer and was married 70 years. God blessed her with 94 beautiful years, and she lived them as a testament to faith, family, service, and unconditional love. Though we grieve her passing, we are grateful for the countless blessings she brought into our lives and the lasting legacy she leaves behind.

Affectionately known as Mama June by everyone, including her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and friends, she was the matriarch and heart of her family, a steady presence who brought everyone together through her love, strength, and generosity. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her greatest earthly treasures. Her door was always open, and there was always room for one more. Whether someone needed comfort, wise advice, a listening ear, personal encouragement, or simply a loving hug, Mama June was there. She had a special gift for making people feel welcome, accepted, and deeply loved. As much as she gave, she received the same love in return. Her house was always the place to be, ready for a game of cards, dominoes, board games or bunco with her “Bunco Gals.”. The house was filled with music and a guarantee of some form of sports on tv. She was an avid reader, loved going to the movies, going on cruises with her family, and absolutely loved to dance. It is truly fitting that, around the age of 5, her father jokingly named her “IGOAH”. That name and its meaning stuck as she lived a happy and full life “on the go.”

Mama June was her family's greatest cheerleader, never missing an opportunity to celebrate a birthday, attend a school event, or cheer from the sidelines. She took pride in every milestone and made those she loved feel special, supported, and cherished. Her presence and encouragement were gifts her family will treasure forever.

Her commitment to serving others extended well beyond her family. She served as President of the Blinn College Women's Faculty Club, chaired the March of Dimes, and led the Brenham Cancer Association. She also served as a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader and was active in the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Eastern Star, and the Fortnightly Club. A woman of deep faith, she was a devoted member of First Baptist Church and later Chappell Hill Methodist Church.

June is survived by her twin daughters, Janet Dreyer and Joan Dreyer Koonce (Phil); 7 grandchildren, Amy Eads (Barry), Jana Crowe (Shane), Brandon Emmons (DeAun), Tara Dreyer, Spencer Bruno (Russell), Brittany Acosta (Nicholas), and Kellye Maxie (Seth); 15 great-grandchildren, Grace Crowe, Addison Crowe, Chase Crowe, Colin Crowe, Tanner Crowe, Parker Bruno, Price Bruno, Mae Bruno, Emma Eads, Asher Emmons, Zayne Emmons, Lucas Acosta, Luisa Acosta, Magnolia Maxie, Mollie Maxie; Sister-in-Law Ann Dreyer, niece, Kelli Terbush (Todd), nephews, Mike Dreyer (Brenda), Kevin Dreyer, Patrick Dreyer (Michelle), Tommy Whiddon (Jeannie), and Dr Randy Bailey (Kelly).

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, Leroy, and their son, Jim and grandson Derrick Dreyer; her parents, Thomas and Ruth (Haring) Whiddon; in-laws, Charlie and Leona (Nehring) Dreyer; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Gayle and Virginia Whiddon and Gene and Ruth Whiddon; and brother-in-law, Gene Dreyer.

Family was June's greatest earthly treasure, and she taught us that love is more than words. It is being present, offering encouragement, celebrating one another, and standing together through life's joys and sorrows. Her faith, kindness, and generosity touched countless lives, and the lessons she taught will continue to guide generations.

As we thank God for the 94 years we were blessed to share with her, we find comfort in our faith and the promise of eternal life. Her family will continue to grow, her love will continue to be shared, and her legacy will live on through the lives she touched, the community she served, and the generations she nurtured.

Rest peacefully mother. Your earthly work is done, your love remains, and your legacy is forever secure in our hearts. Until we meet again, may you rest in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23

I have fought the good fight,

I have finished the course,

I have kept the faith.

— 2 Timothy 4:7

“She loved traveling, whether by land, in the air, or across the water. Her adventurous spirit and love of exploring the world are what kept her forever young. No matter where the journey took her, she embraced life with wonder, excitement, and joy.”

A beautiful way to remember her adventurous spirit.

June
