Chappell Hill

June Rita Dossat, 95, of Chappell Hill, Texas passed away on June 1, 2026, at the Holland Place Assisted Living facility located in Nederland, Texas.

June, born in New Orleans on July 19, 1930, was the only child of beloved parents, Joseph B. Dossat and Louby Dugas Dossat, of Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. She attended public and parochial grade schools and graduated with honors from Jefferson High School in 1946. She was employed by D.H. Holmes Co. and Pan-Am Southern Oil Co. as a bookkeeper for 6 ½ years before entering study at St. Mary’s Dominican College, New Orleans, where she was a member of Cardinal Key National Honor Society, and complete her Batchelor of Science degree in Chemistry in 1956.

June moved to Houston following graduation to begin her career as a Technical Information Specialist at the Exxon (Humble) Research Center, where she enjoyed a career of 30 years, retiring as Supervisor of the Department in 1986. The 15 years following retirement, she was engaged in a business, DIM*IT Sunscreens, with a longtime friend and partner, Floi Ewing, deceased, with whom she shared 28 adventurous years. Relocation of home and business to Chappell Hill took place in 1995. Significant RV travel for business and pleasure followed.

June enjoyed participating in athletic and outdoor activities and enjoyed the friendship of many others with similar interests. She felt she was blessed throughout life by a loving and supportive family, good health, work she truly enjoyed, proven true friends, and a somewhat warped sense of humor.

She is survived by numerous relatives in Louisiana and Texas, and close friends throughout the United States.

She actively supported the Scott and White (formerly Trinity) Medical Center, Washington County EMS, Commit for Life (blood donation), Hospice Brazos Valley, Unity Theatre, of Brenham, and The Round Top Festival Institute.

A memorial service will be held under the direction of Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham, Texas to be announced later. Interment of her cremains will be at Masonic Cemetery, Chappell Hill, Texas. In lieu of flowers, a request has been made to make donations to Hospice Brazos Valley.
