Joyce Arlean Poehlmann Weiss passed away Thursday, January 30, 2020.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Salem Lutheran Church of Salem. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m., Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

She was born to Reinhold F. and Elsie L. (Rodenbeck) Poehlmann on September 16, 1935 in the Pleasant Hill Community. She was baptized on October 27, 1935 at Salem Lutheran Church of Salem by Rev. William Utesch. She was confirmed on April 10, 1949 at Salem Lutheran Church of Salem by Rev. W.C. Poehlmann.

On March 15, 1952 she was married to Arthur Robert Weiss Sr. in Salem Lutheran Church of Salem by Rev. W.C. Poehlmann. They were blessed with three sons and a daughter.

On April 29, 1979 she married Henry Zientek in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Arthur Robert Weiss Sr. and Henry Zientek; sister, Helen Louise Poehlmann Mikeska Schulz; brother, Ralph E. Poehlmann; great-grandchild, Skylar Elise Gresham; and Godchild, Lindsey Leigh Boeker.

She is survived by her children: Arthur Robert Weiss Jr., Robert Frederick Weiss II (Sue Johnston), Anne Elizabeth Weiss Merkel (Gary), William John Weiss (Rose), and Delbert and Terry Boeker. Her grandchildren: Kevin Weiss, Sara (Weiss) and Scott Gresham, Kelly Weiss and friend Ralph Stokley, Sheri (Merkel) and Jason Diehl, Valerie (Merkel) and Daniel Garner, Paula (Weiss) and Bradley Jacobs, John and Chantal Weiss, Drew Boeker, Taylor (Boeker) and Tito Torres; great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Diehl, Nathan Garner, Emily Jacobs, Allie Jacobs; her sister-in-law Jeanette Poehlmann; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and grandsons-in-law. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Lucile Brannon; Doyle and Daphne Janner; Glen, Gayle, and Grant Meschewitz; Salem Lutheran Dorcas Circle; and members of the Washington County Cattle Women.
