Jenell Louise Freida (Braun) Jaster went to be with her Heavenly Father on September 8, 2025. Jenell was born May 22, 1932 to Alfred and Thusnelda (Peters) Braun of Round Top. Jenell was baptized and confirmed in Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Round Top by Pastor Walter Kralik. Her confirmation verse was Psalm 143:10 "Teach me to do thy will for thou art my God." Thy spirit is good. Lead me into the land of uprightness."
Jenell attended elementary school in Round Top and earned her high school diploma from Round Top Carmine High School on May 29, 1950.
Jenell married Clarence Jaster on April 5, 1952 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top. Together Jenell and Clarence had three daughters; Cheryl of Three Rivers, TX, Bonnie of Pflugerville, TX and Jane of Austin, TX.
While in Brenham, Jenell was first employed at Maddox Furniture Company for several years. Later, she did in-home sewing for Nat's Tiny Tots, a job she continued after moving to Austin in 1996. While in Austin, Jenell worked for Austin Independent School District for 21 years, retiring on January 29, 1993. Soon thereafter, she and Clarence built a home in Round Top which became the focal point for the gathering of family and friends. There she enjoyed life by creating many crafts, including making Christmas stockings for the entire family. She was an accomplished seamstress who was known not only for her quilting ability but sewed various items ranging from a wedding dress for her daughter to confirmation robes for her church to seasonal decorations for every occasion. She loved gardening and working in her yard. Committed to her church, Immanuel Lutheran in Pflugerville and later in Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine, she generously gave of time, talent and treasure. Jenell served on Altar Guild for many years, was on the Usher team, and folded bulletins and newsletters. She was also a member of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (Mary Group). She enjoyed participating in the monthly quilting circle and volunteered at Fishes and Loaves. After Clarence's passing, Jenell relocated to Round Rock, TX to be closer to family. In her new community she made many friends and enjoyed spending time on her front porch, playing bingo and the nickel game, tending to her flowers, reading and socializing with her neighbors. Her porch was the gathering spot on many evenings. She continued her love of baking and spoiled her friends with her home baked goods (especially her molasses cookies). Her overwhelming generosity and warm heart will be terribly missed by all.
Jenell is survived by her daughter and sons-in-law Cheryl & Mac Johanson, Bonnie & Mark Sassman and Jane & Stephen Greinert; grandchildren Joshua & Tina Johanson, Jamie & Colby Braune, Chris & Cassidy Greinert and Michael Greinert, Matthew & Lorena Sassman and Maggie Sassman; great grandchildren Alyssa Johanson, Dale Johanson, Barrett Braune, Claire Braune, Hector Garcia Jr., and Mina Sassman; and sister Gloria Fay.
