Janice was born on January 11, 1946 in San Antonio, TX to Michael Barnovitz and Catherine Conner. She was baptized on February 6, 1946 at Grace Lutheran Church of San Antonio, TX. She was confirmed on December 2, 1962 at Zion Lutheran Church of Houston, TX. She married her husband, Fred Hermann, on August 31, 1962 in Washington County. She worked as a beautician, realtor, and in Wal-Mart sales.

Janice was a member of the Piece Makers Quilting Group and Sons of Hermann. She enjoyed playing cards at the Brenham Senior Center and the VFW. She enjoyed fishing, art, puzzle books, and cell phone solitaire.

The world lost a wonderful woman today. Our minds are still reeling on how we got here, and though we know the shock will wear off, the heartache continues.

Janice was one-of-a-kind, spit fire. She was unapologetically her own person. She was kind and giving. She was creative and absolutely hilarious. She livened up any room she walked into. We will miss her dearly, we will ache for the years we lost with her. We will mourn her absence, but we will celebrate her life and all that it brought to ours.

We can’t imagine our lives without her. We hold a certain peace in our hearts knowing she is not suffering. We will love you forever and cherish you always.

She is survived by her husband, Fred Hermann of fifty-nine years of Brenham, TX; daughter, Becky Sallach of Brenham, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Bobby Cook of Giddings, TX; brother, Steve King of Navasota, TX; brother and sister-in-law, George and Sharon King of Bedias, TX; sister, Linda Theiss of Bedias, TX; grandchildren, Dustin and wife Carrie Smith of Katy, TX, Brittani and husband Connor Lamb of Sealy, TX, Katy Beckermann of Boise, ID, Kelsey Beckermann of Round Rock, TX, and Travis Sallach of Brenham, TX; great-grandchildren, Nadalli Smith of Wallis, TX, and Layla Grace Lamb of Sealy, TX; and numerous relatives.

She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Katy Emshoff Conner, who raised Janice; parents; son-in-law, Warren Sallach; brother, Larry Hightshoe; and good friend, Diana Lindley.
