Jane Wyatt Hermes Allen departed this earthly life to be with the Lord on May 26, 2023 after a decades’ long battle with diabetes. She was 83 years and 6 months old at the time of her death.

Jane was born on November 8, 1939 in Austin, TX to Gilbert W. Hermes and Catherine Linton Hermes. She was baptized in the Christian Faith at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Grange, TX by the Rev. Arthur Koehler. She was confirmed in the Christian Faith at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Grange, TX by the Rev. Henry A. Trangott.

The youngest of the three Hermes daughters, Jane battled debilitating childhood disease. She loved music and was in the school band. She graduated from La Grange High School and attended Texas Women’s University in Denton, TX. She spent three years studying to be an Occupational Therapist. She was united in Holy Matrimony with Paul F. Allen on May 6, 1961 by Rev. Alton C. Donsbach at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Denton, TX. Their union was blessed with the gift of one daughter. They lived at Blytheville AFB, Arkansas; Ft. Worth, Amarillo, LaMarque, Somerville, and Brenham, TX.

Jane worked at many different occupations throughout her life, primarily as an Inventory Specialist. She did all manner of needlework and was a prolific quilter and a member of the quilting guilds: Galveston Island, Bay Area, Road Runners, and Brenham Friendship. She acquired and maintained a world class fabric collection. This was her passion. She was a lifelong member in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and a member of Grace Lutheran in Brenham at the time of her death. She was active in the LWML throughout her adult life.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her grandson Christopher G, Rader; sisters and brothers-in-law, Clara and Nick Dokos and Winnie and Dan Carroll.

She is survived by her daughter Patricia Jacobs and husband Matthew; grandson Andrew S. Rader and wife Jennifer, grandson Brandon A.
