Ila Nell Kieke

February 24, 1930 — April 14, 2026

Ila Nell (Wagner) Kieke of Burton passed away peacefully at her home on April 14, 2026. Ila was born on February 24, 1930 to Harry and Lillie (Luetge) Wagner.

On May 8, 1948 she was married to the love of her life, Daniel Kieke at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine. They were NEVER seen apart.

Ila was a lifelong member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine. She attended school until the 8th grade. She was a homemaker and helped her husband run their egg operation most of her life. Ila found joy tending to her garden and yardwork. She was an exceptional seamstress. In her younger days, Daniel & Ila enjoyed going to dances and dining out on the weekends with their close friends. They also thoroughly enjoyed watching their grandchildren play sports.

After marriage Daniel and Ila recognized the farming life was not a sufficient way of life for them so they moved to Houston and Pasadena where Daniel became employed. In the late 1950's they would travel back home to Burton to gather their weekly supplies of farm fresh eggs, sausage, and other food produced on the homeplace. They began supplying their neighbors with eggs and it soon became evident that this "sideline" job soon began making more money than Daniel's job. They then moved back home to Burton and went into the commercial egg business. Daniel and Ila delivered every Tuesday to their 500 door-to-door customers in Houston, Daniel in his pickup and Ila in her car. They never missed a Tuesday! Daniel and Ila's children, Karen & Ricky, at a very young age helped produce and process eggs. It didn't take many months for Daniel & Ila to decide to invest in a larger delivery truck and work together. As demand grew for their farm fresh eggs Daniel and Ila increased their hen population and in turn brought Kieke Egg Farm to life.

Ila's vital role in the early years of the Kieke Egg Farm was being a meticulous bookkeeper. Until her mid 70's, she could be found everyday alongside her husband working hand in hand on the farm.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen (Kieke) Rosenbaum and husband Raymond, son Ricky and wife Debbie (Boehnemann). Grandchildren, Theresa (Rosenbaum) Garlin, Jeremy Rosenbaum and wife Stephanie (Wilson), Angie (Kieke) Fritsch and husband Ryan "Bubba", Abby (Kieke) Majewski and husband Dustin.
