Howard Lee Schomburg

April 7, 1943 — October 16, 2025

Bleiblerville, Texas

Howard Lee Schomburg, 82, of Bleiblerville, passed away into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 16, 2025.

Howard was born on April 7, 1943 to Herbert Sr. and Nelda Kirchner Schomburg.  He was baptized June 30, 1943 by Rev. I.M. Mansur at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Welcome. He was confirmed March 30, 1958 by Rev. George E. Perry at St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem.

After attending Brenham High School, he was employed by Steadly Manufacturing for many years and later worked for Sealy Mattress until his retirement.  Even after work, Howard always kept busy, hauling hay for the neighbors, and cutting and selling firewood. After a long day he never missed an opportunity to stop at Welcome Store to enjoy a cold one, visit friends and play a game of dominoes.  After retirement, he took great pleasure in his woodworking projects building benches and birdhouses to sell at the local craft shows. Howard enjoyed he deer hunting trips to the hill country.

In later years, he also found enjoyment sitting under the shade tree on his bench watching the cows and birds. He especially treasured the time with his family; "Uncle Geeze" took great pride in his nephews and was quick to teach them a few life lessons or two that they still carry with them today.

Howard is survived by his brothers: Herbert Schomburg Jr. and Floyd Schomburg both of Blieiblerville; nephews and their spouses: Chuck and Tara Schomburg of LaGrange, Troy Schomburg of New Ulm, Bradley and Cindy Schomburg of Washington, Gerald and Julia Schomburg of Navasotas; great nieces and great nephews, whom he loved dearly include Caitlyn and John Cole, Tyler Schomburg, Lindsay and Jordan Williams, Dalton Schomburg, Braylee Schomburg (special friend Garett Krause), Colin Schomburg, Dustin and Holly Schomburg, Abigale Schomburg and Noah Schomburg as well as numerous great-great nieces.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Willie Schomburg.

Serving as pallbearers are his nephews and great-nephews.
