Herbert Klaus

Herbert William Klaus, 70, of Burton, died Sept. 1, 2003, in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mr. Klaus was born Nov. 17, 1932, in Burton, TX, to Hugo and Elsa Geisler Klaus. From 1950 to 1962, he served in the Marines in Korea and Japan. He was a retired U.S. Government civil service employee. Mr. Klaus was a member of Bethany Christian Church of Burton, Burton American Legion and Giddings VFW. On Jan. 2, 1992, he married Joyce Crampton in Houston. Survivors include his wife Joyce Klaus of Burton; daughter, Judy; stepson, Buck Taggart of Hockley; stepdaughters, Brenda Clow of Burton, Sharon Taggart of Boulder, Colorado, Teresa Taggart of Silver Springs, Florida and Penney Dominguez of Scotts Valley, California; brother, Arnold Klaus of Houston; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Deanna. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3 in Bethany Christian Church in Burton with Bob Hofmann officiating. Burial will be in the Christian Church Cemetery on Christian Cemetery Road near Burton. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. today in Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. Pallbearers will be Buck Taggart, Scott Smith, Clinten Clow, Dan Borchgardt, Jimmy Borchgardt, Gordon Pattison, Bill Gamache and Elroy Geisler. Honorary pallbearers will be M.G. Hill, Harris Johnston, Arnold Klaus, Bill Shaw and John Stanley. Memorials may be given to Bethany Christian Church in Burton. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Foehner Funeral Home in Burton.
