Grace Boehnemann

August 29, 1931 — December 17, 2023

Grace Allyne (Lange) Boehnemann of Burton passed away on Sunday, December 17th, 2023.

Grace was born August 29, 1931 to Bernhard and Paula (Altmann) Lange. She was baptized on December 15, 1931 in Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine and was confirmed November 12, 1944 in the same church.

On April 12, 1953 she was married to Alton (Pido) Boehnemann in Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine.

Grace was a lifelong member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and baking. For 25 years, Grace and Pido ran a family dairy. To say the least for years, Grace weathered the storms and milked those cows like any dairy man could do. Grace soon found her true calling in life. She was a legend amongst the Burton community. While working at the Burton Cafe she quickly became known statewide as "The Pie Lady." For many years she baked cakes, pies, and tea rings for various organizations for fundraisers. After she decided to put her baking hands to rest she volunteered at the Burton Bridge Corner Shoppe for many years. She made many friends while working at the Burton Cafe and the Corner Shoppe.

Special moments of her life included being selected as the 2020 Grand Marshall of the Burton Cotton Gin Parade. She took great pride in her family, especially her granddaughters and great grandchildren. Grace was very proud of all their many accomplishments.

Survivors include her daughters, Diane Boehnemann, Debbie Kieke and husband Ricky, and Donna Putnam. Granddaughters, Angie Kieke Fritsch and husband Bubba, and Abby Kieke Majewski and husband Dustin. Great-grandchildren, Chet and Paige Fritsch and Hank and Charli Majewski. Brother and sister in law, Charles and Barbara Lange, sister in law, Linda Lange. And numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her in laws, her husband Pido, her brothers David and James Lange, son in law, Jeffrey Putnam, and nephew Layne Lange.

Pallbearers are Ricky Kieke, Bubba Fritsch, Dustin Majewski, Chet Fritsch, Hank Majewski, Douglas Borchardt, Keith Lange, and William Lange. Honorary pallbearers include Darrell Borchardt, Clay Wiederhold, Chris Tehas, John Greig, the Nelson Felder Family, Cindy and Steve Miller, Jerri and Glenn Linke, Linda Makowsky, Robert McCullough and Dotty Wickel.
