Gloria was born January 19, 1952 in Brenham, Texas. She was the third daughter of four girls born to Alvin “Rock” Hueske and Edna (Eichkoff) Hueske. She was preceded in death by her parents; parents in-law, Erna A. (Kelm) Lehde and Berthold Lehde; sister, Janet Stevenson; brothers-in-law Robert Stevenson, Maurice Zinsmeyer, and Mervin Lehde; nieces, Courtney Locke and Carol Sue Lorenz.

In her youth, Gloria was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, where she was baptized on April 6th, 1952 by Pastor W.C. Poehlmann, was confirmed June 12th, 1966 by Pastor F.T. Sager who also presided over her wedding to Billy Joe Lehde August 8th, 1970 at Salem Lutheran Church. She remained faithfully married to her Husband Billy until her death.

Gloria joined her husband as members of Zion Lutheran Church where her children Jeff and Christine were both baptized and confirmed. She taught Sunday school at Zionsville for many years, served as a member of the altar guild, Ruth Circle, and many small committees. She also delivered sermon tapes to shut-in members. Gloria’s enjoyment of sports led her to help form the intramural church volleyball and baseball leagues.

Gloria attended Brenham public schools. In High School, she took a vocational office education class and interned with Don R. Muzzy. After graduation, Gloria continued to work with Muzzy and later with John Pledger as a Surveying Technician and Drafting Manager for 16 years. She later continued in her occupation with O’Malley Engineers. She worked on many civil engineering projects that included streets, sewers, and water lines that still exist today, as well as oil and gas production units.

Gloria always enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was playing baseball and volleyball with the Zionsville Church team, or camping, canoeing, and water skiing with her family. She was blessed with an incredible green thumb. Gloria could be found most evenings in her garden, or around the yard tending to her plants. She kept a large variety of potted plants. She was once convinced by her family to enter her plants in the Washington County Fair where Gloria won all First-Place ribbons and Best of Show. Until the very end, Gloria enjoyed working in the yard and garden with her husband Billy, her cat, Mr. D, and dog Sam.

Gloria’s other passions in life included cooking, whether at home for family, with friends at Bar-B-Que cookoffs, or at Gay Hill Hall for steak suppers, fish frys, pitch tournaments, and meetings where she also served as past Secretary and Reporter for the Herman Sons Life Lodge #193.

Gloria had many friends and enjoyed spending time with them over the years from the West Side County Club Crew, to the After 5 bunch at Burton Short Stop. To Mary, Don, Cynthia and TJ, and whoever may drop in, Gloria says a final “Hi!”

Among the many family members to survive her, Gloria wanted to specially recognize and thank her endearing husband, Billy of nearly 50 years for all the joyful times they shared; daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Chase Mueller; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Kristin (Startzman) Lehde; grandchildren (her darling angels), Ivy and Sage Mueller and Gavin Lehde; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and Wesley Westerfeld and Alisa and Kenneth Locke; sister-in-law, Elaine (Lehde) Lorenz; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Vernon and Jo Ann Lehde, Bobby and Barbara Lehde, and Gary and Linda Lehde; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews.
