Obituary

Genevieve Helen Rybarski, 88, of Brenham, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, and went to be with her Lord and Savior. Born on November 15, 1937, in Brenham, Texas, she was the beloved daughter of Stanley and Helen (Bilski) Konieczny.

Genevieve was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a remarkable woman whose love and dedication to her family knew no bounds. After the loss of her beloved husband, Marion Rybarski, in 1981, Genevieve courageously raised their five children on her own. She worked as a cook at the local school, a job that allowed her to be home when her children returned from school each day.

Family was always at the center of Genevieve's life. She never missed a football game, school program, or special event involving her children. As her family grew, she carried that same devotion to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, faithfully supporting them at their activities and milestones. Through every challenge and blessing, her strong Catholic faith guided her and provided strength, comfort, and hope.

Genevieve was preceded in death by her loving husband, Marion Rybarski; her daughter, Sharilyn "Sherri" Stegent; her parents, Stanley and Helen Konieczny; and numerous siblings.

She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory forever: her children, Loretta Kapchinski and husband Jody, Peggy Bland and husband Loyd, Marion Rybarski Jr., and Robert Rybarski; grandchildren, Dwayne Stegent Jr., and wife Heather, Brandon Kapchinski and wife Jordan, Daniel Stegent, Brittany Wagers and special friend Paden Ullrich, Dillin Rybarski and special friend Autumn Green, Dustin Rybarski, and Peyton Rybarski; great-grandchildren, Seth, Travis, and JoAnna Kapchinski, Russell Rybarski, Wyatt Stegent, Brodi Clow, Everett Stegent, and Dwayne Stegent III; sister, Annie Rybarski; brother-in-law, Albin Bolcerek; and sisters-in-law, Darlene Konieczny and Bebianne Wagner; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

A visitation for Genevieve will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with the Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brenham. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Kapchinski, Dillin Rybarski, Dustin Rybarski, Daniel Stegent, Dwayne Stegent Jr., Tommy Bolcerek, Donnie Rybarski, and Darrell Wagner. Honorary pallbearers will be Peyton Rybarski and Brittany Wagers.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Brenham Nursing and Rehab for the compassionate care, kindness, and love shown to Genevieve during her time there.

Genevieve's legacy of faith, perseverance, selflessness, and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
