It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Garrett Allan Klein of Latium on Friday, August 19th, 2022 at the age of 63. He endured a mercifully quick battle with liver and kidney failure resulting from aggressive cancer. He passed peacefully in ICU with his wife Debi at his side.
Garrett grew up in Chicago, Illinois and joined the U.S. Navy after high school.
Garrett served with pride and distinction aboard the USS Enterprise as an air intercept controller. After his military service, he began his journey to become an electrician, eventually breaking out on his own as an electrical contractor specializing in residential work. His every client was impressed by his attention to detail, precision, and ability to visualize and guide the project as a whole.
Garrett was proud of reaching the twenty-five year mark in AA, and provided reliable and empathetic support for countless members in their early journeys in sobriety.
Garrett was a dedicated volunteer firefighter for the Latium Wesley Greenvine Fire Department. A lifetime service award was scheduled to be presented to him in September. He served as President on the business side and as Apparatus Officer on the operations side. He accomplished considerable upgrades to the building, the grounds, and the trucks during his tenure. He would be honored by the many responses we've already received from the firefighter community, and would be happy to know that "they've got it from here."
Garrett was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Debi of 20 years, and his sister Veronica, nieces Aryn and Bella and nephew Derek in California.
Garrett never hesitated to help a friend or neighbor in need; he was loved and will be missed by many members of the community. No service is planned.
In lieu of flowers, donations can made to local volunteer fire departments or animal rescue of choice.
