Frederick Earl Fred Dulaney, 83, of the Long Point Community, died February 9, 2004, in the Trinity Care Center in Brenham. He was born June 11, 1920, in Rome, Texas, to Clarence Lee and Lela Williams Dulaney. After graduating from Reagan High School in Houston, he served as an Army medic in the Pacific Theater during World War II. On February 22, 1948, he and Elaine Neinast of Somerville were married in Houston. Fred was a furniture warehouse supervisor for Joskes and Dillards. He retired from that position and moved to Washington County in 1985. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2002; brothers, Clarence Lee, Jr., and Carl Ray; and sisters, Mary Arfele and Evelyn Noak. He is survived by sisters-in-law, Julene Dulaney of Houston and Mabel Haddox of Somerville; brother-in-law and wife, Bill and Jeannine Neinast of Burton; nephews, George Noak, Jack Landon Dulaney, Ronald Dulaney and Glenn Dulaney of the Houston area and Steven Neinast of Austin, Mark Neinast of Midland and Will Neinast of Dallas. Surviving nieces are Sherrie Noak Jackson of Spring, Jackie Noak Malek of Brenham, Carlene Dulaney Montalbano of Conroe, Rhonda Dulaney Flanders of Cypress and Anita Neinast Cunningham of Austin. Also surviving are numerous grand-nephews and grand-nieces. Viewing will be Tuesday, February 10 at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham, and then on Wednesday, February 11 he will lie in state at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 12, at First Lutheran Church of Somerville with Pastor Virgil Pecht officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville. Pallbearers will be Nelson Jackson, Ronald Dulaney, Glenn Dulaney, Joe Montalbano, Bob Flanders and Steve Malek. Honorary pallbearers are Kevin Hill, Preston Ruffino, Herbert Mantey and George Noak, Jr. Those wishing to provide a memorial in Fred s memory are invited to designate a charity of their choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Strickland Funeral Home, 511 Eighth St. in Somerville, 979 596-2311.
