Franklin Haarmeyer, 83, of Brenham, died September 27, 2020, in Brenham.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 1, 2020 at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill with Rev. Shea Berbaum officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 29, 2020 and 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 30, 2020 with the family present from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Mr. Haarmeyer was born on January 26, 1937 in Brenham, TX to Fritz and Annie Kuhlmann Haarmeyer. Franklin was baptized on February 21, 1937 and confirmed on April 6, 1952. He married his wife, Doris Lange, on May 3, 1959. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Berlin Crisis.

Mr. Haarmeyer was a life member of St. John Lutheran Church. He made recordings of church services for Tape Ministry. He was a former church council member, making a grave location map for the church cemetery. He was a long-time member of Prairie Hill Volunteer Fire Department serving in various offices. He was a lover of music, some favorites include Jim Reeves, Hank Thompson, Merle Haggard, and all-time favorite was Bob Wills. He was a musician playing lead guitar and bass. Over decades, he played for local bands including; Trail Riders, Rex Skylar and the Silver Spurs, The Country Five, The Westernaries, and the Music Masters.

Mr. Haarmeyer is survived by his wife, Doris Haarmeyer of Brenham, TX; daughter, Donna Haarmeyer of Brenham, TX; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy Haarmeyer and wife Joyce of Conroe, TX, and John Haarmeyer and wife Carol of Brenham, TX; sister-in-law, Helen Gaskamp of Brenham, TX; brother-in-law, Floyd Lange of Cuero, TX; very special great nieces and nephews; Meg Rodriquez, Audra Kroll, John Rodriquez, Myka Mikolajchak, Mabry Mikolajchak, and Mayvin Mikolajchak; special family friends, Ricky Weiss and Marty Spivey; other relatives, Bonnie Ray and husband Mike, Patti Merzi and husband Carl, Darren Haarmeyer and Carlene Wynn, Jeannie Kroll and husband Keith, Holly Rodriquez and husband Mark, Johnna Mikolajchak and husband Tim, Gayle Kunkel and husband Randy, Randy Gaskamp, Kevin Lange and wife Kerri, and Patrick Lange and wife Cindy.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fritz and Annie Haarmeyer; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Willie and Minnie Lange; sisters and brothers-in-law, Willie Mae and Edgar Gaskamp, Jackie Lange, and Gilbert Gaskamp; and niece, Tina Gaskamp.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Darren Haarmeyer, Keith Kroll, Mark Rodriquez, John Rodriquez, Keith Mikolajchak, Randy Gaskamp, Kevin Lange, Ricky Weiss, and Kolin Kunkel. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Marty Spivey, former co-workers at TX Highway Department and fellow musicians.

Memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill and Prairie Hill Volunteer Fire Department.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, TX 77833.
