Evelyn Caldwell

Evelyn Emily Mary Heineke Caldwell, born April 15, 1912, in Brenham, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2003, at Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village in Brenham, where she had resided since April 2002. She had lived in Austin prior to that time. She grew up in Brenham and graduated from Brenham High School. She attended Blinn Junior College and the University of Texas. On August 11, 1934, she married Jones Kelsey JK Caldwell, who preceded her in death on January 7, 1958. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Albert and Emily Heineke; her sister, Dorothy; her brother, John; and a grandson, Chris Campbell. She is survived by her sons, Don, Gerald, Bill and Larry; her daughters, Carole and Dixie; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her brother, Arthur; and numerous nieces and nephews. Evelyn was a member of Congress Avenue Baptist Church in Austin. She retired from the Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation. Graveside service and burial will be at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 2. Service arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St. in Brenham. Visitation with family and friends will be held from noon Friday until service time. Memorials in Evelyn s name may be made to Congress Avenue Baptist Church, 1511 S. Congress Avenue, Austin, TX 78704.
