Erma Sengel

Erma Jane Sengel, 97 of Brenham, a former resident of Houston, died March 16, 2005, in Trinity Care Center in Brenham. Mrs. Sengel was born August 4, 1907 in Rule, Texas to Samuel Harrison Sr. and Annye L. McCannless New. She was educated in Austin public schools. On December 11, 1926, she married Merrill George Sengel in Austin. Mrs. Sengel was a homemaker. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, George New "Sonny" and Sally Blackie-Sengel; daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy Sengel and John I. Finch and Suzanne and David Myers; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband on May 6, 1985. Mrs. Sengel will be buried Friday in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin.
