Edward Neumann

May 17, 1934 — June 16, 2025

Edward Neumann Jr., 91, passed away on June 16, 2025.

Born in Brenham, on May 17, 1934 in Washington County to Ed and Elsie "Gummelt" Neumann. Edward grew up picking cotton and farming for his parents and enjoying time with his family. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Edward spent two years in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. He met the love of his life, Shirley Niemeyer, at a party right before he left for the Army and they were married on February 15, 1959 and spent the next 66 years cherishing his family. He worked at Tiemann Bros., Washington County Tractor Co., and Brenham State School where he retired as a mechanic. He was very handy fixing things and they even mounted his hammer on a plaque when he retired. After retirement he enjoyed keeping up with farm equipment, cows, fences and animals, repairing and painting tractors for people and traveling to little league and softball games.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; son Kenneth (Denise) Neumann and daughter Debra (Russell) Howell; grandchildren Lee (Kourtney) Neumann, Kendall Neumann, Peyton Howell, Dalton Howell; and great-grandchildren Karlee Kay Neumann and Kysan Kelly Neumann; brother Ernest (Linda) Neumann and brother-in-law Allen (Dinah) Niemeyer. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Ed and Elsie Neumann; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gus and Alvina Niemeyer; granddaughter Karlee Alvia Carr; brother-in-laws Gus William Niemeyer and Daniel Niemeyer; sister-in-law Corene Niemeyer and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
