Edward “Eddie” Martinez, 66, of Brenham, Texas, was a man of strong opinions, a stubborn streak a mile wide, a deep love for Jesus, and an unwavering belief that he was always right — at least according to Eddie.
Born on Christmas Day, Eddie lived life his way. Known for his hollering, grumbling, and giving everyone a hard time, he was never short on opinions or advice nobody asked for. But beneath that tough exterior was a man who loved his family fiercely.
At just 17 years old, Eddie met Debbie and told his father he would marry her someday. Life took them down separate paths, but years later, he kept that promise. Together, they built a beautiful blended family where there was no “yours” or “mine,” only ours. Eddie absolutely adored Debbie, proving that sometimes even a stubborn man gets something exactly right.
Eddie proudly owned EMC Construction, LLC, for many years. His greatest passion was dirt bikes, especially riding and attending races with his sons, Brent and Cory. In later years, he enjoyed chasing after his granddaughter, Grace, usually griping the entire time — but loving every minute of it.
Eddie loved Jesus and found comfort in God's Word, having read the Bible multiple times throughout his life. His faith was an important part of the man he was.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Debbie Martinez; his mother, Vicente Martinez; his children, Brent and Kaleena, Cory and Kristin, and Danielle and Michael; his grandchildren, Grace Martinez, Madalyn Jones, and Beaux Jones; and numerous family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Martinez; his nephews, Stephen Holder and Amir Naraghi; and his best friend, Jack “Tebo” Ray.
His family finds comfort in imagining his dad meeting him at Heaven's gates, with Stephen, Amir, and Tebo ready for one heck of a reunion. There's surely laughter, storytelling, and plenty of hollering — with Eddie already telling everyone how things ought to be done.
If Eddie could read this obituary, he'd probably have a few corrections and insist he could have written it better himself.
One thing is certain — Heaven just got a whole lot louder.
And down here, we'll miss every bit of that noise.
The funeral service for Edward “Eddie” Martinez will be held Saturday, October 17, 2026 at Memorial Oaks Chapel with Pastor Billy Sutherland officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Friday October 16 at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a contribution in Eddie’s memory to the charity of your choice.
