Earl Blum, 89, died Monday June 7, 2021 in the comfort of his own home.
A funeral service will be held at 10 am, Friday June 11, 2021 at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Karen Buck officiating. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm Thursday June 10, 2021 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.
Mr. Blum was born in Washington Co. (Hoddeville) on August 7, 1931 to Willie Blum and Lena Kochwelp Blum.
On December 21, 1952 he married LaVerne Francis Marburger. He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he was baptized on November 8, 1931, confirmed on March 25, 1945 and served on the church council. He was a member of the Langeville Shooting Club, and an associate member of Berlin Millcreek Zionsville Fire Department.
He greatly enjoyed gardening, fishing, quail hunting, working with cattle and spoiling his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. During his younger days he loved playing baseball and softball and in his later years he loved to watch baseball, especially supporting his grandkids and always stayed loyal to the New York Yankees.
Mr. Blum is survived by his wife of 68 years LaVerne Blum, sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Lisa Blum, David and Sandra Blum; and son Jason Blum; daughter and son-in law, Karen and Mike Mueller; his brother Barry Blum; sister Carolyn Heidemann; sister-in-law Doris Blum; grandchildren, Marcus, Nathan and Meghan Blum, Kelly Pohorelsky and husband Thomas, Kevin Blum and wife Alayni, Kyle Mueller and wife Emily, Amanda Mueller, Ryan Blum and fiancé Lanie Bones, Justin, Leonora and Gavin Blum; great-grandchildren Emily Pohorelsky and Brittan Blum. He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Marvin and Joyce Marburger; and numerous loved nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Neva Blum; his brother Marvin Blum; sister-in-law Florence Blum; brother-in-law Clifford Heidemann; father-in-law and mother-in-law Wollie and Alma Marburger.
Pallbearers will be Marcus Blum, Nathan Blum, Kyle Mueller, Kevin Blum, Ryan Blum, Justin Blum, Gavin Blum and Thomas Pohorelsky. Honorary pallbearers are his granddaughters, nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church and Hospice Brazos Valley.
