Dorothy Hupe

February 12, 1929 — October 10, 2019

Dorothy Louise Hupe, wife of Wilfred Hupe, passed away October 10, 2019 in Brenham.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 14, 2019 at Salem Lutheran Church with Pastor Charles Parnell officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Mrs. Hupe was born on February 12, 1929 in Independence, Texas to Henry and Katie (Hinze) Haarmeyer. She was baptized March 10, 1929, and later confirmed at Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin. She married Reinhardt Duch on February 15, 1947, who preceded her in death. On October 2, 1993, she was married to Wilfred Hupe.

Mrs. Hupe lovingly took care of her family as a homemaker. Cooking, sewing, and watching game shows were favorite hobbies. She enjoyed listening to gospel music, as well as baking delicious cakes and pies for her family. She treasured time spent with her family. She will be missed by her beloved pet companion, Suzie.

Survivors include her husband, Wilfred Hupe; sons and daughters-in-law Charles and Janice Duch of Brenham, and Ray and April Duch of Washington; daughters Alice Birkelbach, and Betty Haevischer and husband Gary, all of Brenham; grandchildren: Holly and Terrence Johnson, Shane and Ivy Birkelbach, Sherri and Mark Bentke, Michael and Michelle Wellmann, and Ryan Duch; great-grandchildren: Kaden Birkelbach, Ava Birkelbach, Corey Bentke, Colleen Bentke, Eric Wellmann, Kate and Reid Russell.

Also surviving are stepchildren Charles and Debra Hupe, Sue and Carter Dibrell, as well as numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her father, Henry Haarmeyer; mother, Katie Haarmeyer Neinast; brother, Glen Earl Haarmeyer; step-father, Alvin Neinast, son-in-law; Leon Welllmann, and her first husband, Reinhardt Duch.

Serving as pallbearers are Ryan Duch, Shane Birkelbach, Corey Bentke, Mark Bentke, Eric Wellmann, Michael Wellmann, Jason Hupe, and Justin Hupe.

Honorary pallbearers are her wonderful caregiver, Yolanda Cunningham, and the staff of Traditions Home Health and Hospice.

Memorials may be directed to Traditions Hospice or any favorite charity.
