Lela Diane Bates, 73, of Houston, TX, died on June 24, 2020 in Houston, TX.

A visitation will be held at 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 2, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brenham, TX with Father Joven Saavedra officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. A rosary will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m. prior to the funeral service.

Ms. Bates was born in Brenham, TX on March 12, 1947 to Louis and Lela Hutchins Kenjura.

She is survived by her son, Steven Bates; granddaughter, Stephanie Bates; brother and sister-in-law, Louis and his wife Ruth Kenjura; sister, Becky Ortiz; sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and her husband Greg Hutchins; and her lifelong friend and the love of her life, Roger Gutierrez who was always at her side.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Lela Kenjura.
