Delton Koerth

Delton Koerth, 89, of Burton passed away peacefully on February 7, 2020 in Brenham.

Delton was born December 19, 1930, in Burton to Edward and Bertha Koerth. He was baptized February 15, 1931 in Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine and was confirmed November 12, 1944 in the same church. He graduated from Burton High School in 1948 and attended Blinn College and Texas A&M University. On November 20, 1955 he married his loving wife Gladys in Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine.

He was a lifelong member of the church in Greenvine, serving on the Church Council as Treasurer. Delton served on the Burton School Board, the Washington County Appraisal District Board and the Washington County Dairy Day Committee.

For over 50 years Delton and his wife were partners in the cattle business, first with Ka-Da-Jo Holstein Farm, where they were recognized with the Master Dairy Farmer award and in more recent years owning and managing a beef cattle operation. Caring for his cattle and taking trips to cattle auctions were passions of Delton. He also won numerous awards for his pecans and hay in local contests. Playing card games Pitch and Skat along with dominoes were favorite past times that Delton enjoyed throughout his life.

Delton’s family meant the world to him. He was a wonderful father and loving grandfather. His children and grandchildren always looked forward to Sunday afternoons and supper at Papa and Nana’s house. He enjoyed watching his daughters and grandchildren play softball and baseball through the years, as well as show their 4-H projects locally and across the state.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Karla and Joe Antkowiak of Burton, Dayna and Matt Bathe of College Station, and Jonna and Russell Klump of Burton, grandchildren, Morgan Bathe and fiancée Jason Eddens, Will Bathe, Jensen and Chris Lewis, Kylie Antkowiak and Alexis Antkowiak. Other survivors include his sister, Daulene Hopmann, brother, Billy Dean Koerth and special friend Theresa Bilski, sisters-in-law, Betty Koerth, Florence Boehnemann, and Evelyn Fuchs and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Adolph and Ella Boehnemann, brother Allan Koerth, sister and brother-in-law Betty Jo and Maurice Petersen, brothers-in-law, Edward Hopmann, Delphine Boehnemann and John Will Fuchs, and nephews Kenneth Koerth and Larry Boehnemann.

The family will receive visitors from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 11 at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 12 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine with Pastor Glen Schoeneberg officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Antkowiak, Matt Bathe, Russell Klump, Will Bathe, Chris Lewis and Jason Eddens.

Special thanks are given to the doctors, nurses, health care providers and staff from Brenham and College Station that provided care for Delton. Memorials may be given to Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine.

Funeral arrangements for Delton Koerth are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.
