Delphine Hinze

Delphine Robert Hinze, 84, of Burton, died Oct. 9, 2003, in Trinity Care Center in Brenham. Mr. Hinze was born Jan. 28, 1919, in the Round Top-Carmine community, to Gustav and Alma Krause Hinze. He was baptized and confirmed in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top. Mr. Hinze married Rosa Lee Leonhardt in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top. He was a farmer and rancher and was employed for about 25 years by the University of Texas at Winedale. Mr. Hinze was a member of the Winedale Historical Society, Texana Trail Riders, Round Top Rifle Association, German Singers, La Bahia Turn Verein and Burton Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Hinze was active in the church, having participated in the choir and Sunday school. He also served as an usher and in practically every capacity in the congregation at some point in time. Survivors include his wife, Rosa Lee Hinze of Burton; son, Delphine Robert Hinze Jr.; son-in-law, Nelson Felder; grandchildren, Todd and Brenda Felder, Tara Felder, Tyson Felder, Kristen Hinze and Kody Hinze; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Brooke Eckermann, Kady Jane Felder, Ebony Hinze and Korey Hinze; and sisters, Vella Mae Bentke, Leola Althaus and Werley Wegner; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jane Felder; and two brothers. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12 in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top with Pastor John David Nedbalek officiating. Burial will be in La Bahia Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at Foehner Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11. Pallbearers will be Ricky Wegner, Robert Wagner, Milroy Weinert, Franklin Eckert, Bob Kiesewetter, Kenneth Leonhardt, Willie McKenzie and Adrol Wagner. Memorials may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Foehner Funeral Home in Burton.
