Daniel Martinez

Daniel Anthony Martinez Sr, (Cisco) of Brenham TX passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at the age of 64.

Daniel was born in Austin, TX on June 8, 1957, to father Eugene Martinez and mother Ida Reyes Martinez. He was the third oldest of six siblings. He enlisted in the army at the age of 17.  Through these endeavors, he met his wife Sheryl Denise Hoskins in 1979. They married in April of 1981.  Daniel worked as a Walmart associate for many years before retiring.

Daniel was raised Catholic at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Austin TX. He enjoyed barbequing, listening to music, the Dallas Cowboys and all seven of his grandchildren. He was a long- winded storyteller and loved bragging on his sons. If you asked Daniel, his greatest accomplishment wasn’t his career. It was being a father. He loved his wife dearly and loved to travel with her as well as attend events, birthday parties and programs that his grandchildren were in.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Sheryl Martinez; children Daniel Martinez Jr. and wife Ursula of Cypress TX, Brandon Martinez and wife Brittany of Cypress, Sgt. Nicholas Martinez and wife Aaliyah of Arlington TX; brother and sister’s in law, Paul Martinez and wife Janet of Houston TX, Michael Martinez and wife Minnie of Austin TX; brothers, Manuel Charles Martinez and Jeffery Martinez; sister and brother in law, Deborah Garza and husband Steve of Austin TX; grandchildren Brandon Martinez Jr. , Aysha Martinez, Charly Martinez, Camden Martinez, Alijah Martinez, Hunter Martinez, and Brayden Martinez and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visitation for Daniel is planned for Saturday, March 5, 2022, from 11 am to 1 pm. The visitation will be at Memorial Oaks Chapel on 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, Texas. All are invited to attend. The funeral will follow immediately at 1 pm. Burial will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Donald Hoskins, Cameron Hoskins, Tamarcus McWilliams, Tamarus McWilliams, Gabriel McWilliams, Steven McWilliams, Cladarion Johnson and Ryan Munoz. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Martinez Jr., Raymond Hoskins, Jessie James Hoskins, Paul Martinez, Manuel Charles Martinez, Jeffery Martinez, Michael Martinez, James Sweed, Terry Pickens and Joshua White.
