Dane Hobbs

Dane Hobbs, 64, of Brenham, died Nov. 12, 2019, in Bryan.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

The graveside service for Dane Hobbs will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery at Gay Hill with Pastor Skip Stutts officiating.

Mr. Hobbs was born March 11, 1955, in Brenham, to Ruth (Muery) and Leslie Hobbs. He was baptized at Central Methodist Church in Dalhart and was confirmed at College Lutheran Church in Salem, VA. He received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in animal science from Texas A&M University.

Mr. Hobbs enjoyed hunting and fishing, ranching on the family farm and woodworking. He loved science and won several international awards when he was in high school.

Survivors include his sisters and brothers-in-law, Becki and James Schawe and Dianne and Robert Smith; nieces and nephews, Cathy Boeker and husband Trey, David Schawe, Brian Smith and wife Kristyn and Katie Smith; great-nephews, Clayton Boeker, Logan Boeker, Easton Smith and William Hoyt Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents and uncle Warren Muery and wife Neatha.

Pallbearers will be James Schawe, Robert Smith, David Schawe, Brian Smith, Trey Boeker and Jimmy Smith.

Memorials may be given to First Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or St. John’s Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill Cemetery Fund.
