Dale Alvis Rhames passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 25, 2026, in Cedar Park, Texas at the age of 96. His last few days were filled with visits from family and friends. He was born to Thelma Madden Rhames and Willie Rhames in Rosenberg, Texas on September 25, 1929. Following his childhood years in Houston and Brenham, Texas, he joined the United States Army at the age of 17. His decade of service to the American people included overseas assignments in both Korea and Germany as a microwave technician in the Signal Core. He also served as a Drill Sergeant at multiple bases and was assigned to the United States atomic testing program. After rising to the rank of Master Sergeant, Dale left the Army to joined RCA in executing a civilian defense contract building radar tracking installations across the Arctic, which included assignments in both Alaska and Greenland. Following his defense-related service, he worked in the insurance and mining industries before retiring to central Texas.

Dale's retirement years were focused on spreading the Christian faith, helping grow young churches and mentoring a number of Christ's disciples. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Thelma Rhames; his siblings, Delores Rhames Coringrato, Joyce Rhames, Bruce Rhames, his grandson Nathaniel Jones and his first wife, Elizabeth Margaret McCullough Rhames. He is survived by his children, Coleen Baines and husband Lawrence, Alan Rhames and wife Adriana, William Rhames and wife Mary, Linda Rhames and husband Mike, Kevin Rhames, Valerie Jones, Eric Nielson and Daniel Rhames; twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on March 2, 2026 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1500 West Anderson Lane, Austin, Texas, 78757, followed by interment at 2:30 PM at Prairie Lea Cemetery, 1004 Prairie Lea Street, Brenham, Texas, 77833. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the church of your choice.
