Clarence Gaskamp passed away July 19, 2026, two months shy of his 101st birthday.

Clarence was born on September 19, 1925, in Wm. Penn, Texas. His parents were Otto and Emma (Rosenbaum) Gaskamp and he was one of twelve children. He was baptized on November 19, 1925 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Sandy Hill, Texas by Rev. George Czerkus and confirmed on April 6, 1941 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Wm. Penn, Texas by Rev. C.J. Appel. Clarence was united in Holy Matrimony with Bernice Langenegger on June 22, 1952 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Wm. Penn by Rev. Theo. R. Griesse. The Lord blessed this union with two daughters.

After graduating from Wm. Penn High School, he served his country for almost two years in the 102nd Infantry. After returning home, he continued his education receiving his degree from Blinn College and later graduated from the Southwest School of Banking at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. At Bethlehem, Wm. Penn, he was privileged to serve in various different positions. Joining Grace Lutheran in 1963, he served as Chairman Board of Elders, Evangelism and many years on the Finance Committee.

While in Brenham, he was employed by Sealy Mattress, Liquid Gas Service and First National Bank until his retirement in 1988.

Organizations and committees he was involved with were Texas Transportation, Brazos River Authority, Brenham Evening Lions, Washington County Fair, Maifest Association, Washington County Chamber of Commerce, Germania Insurance, American Legion, VFW and others.

After retirement he enjoyed many years on the Finance Committee at Grace Lutheran, at the farm in Wm. Penn, and The Coffee Group.

Clarence grew up at Wm. Penn with eight brothers and three sisters. Preceding him in death were his father and mother, his sisters, Louise Gaskamp, Thelka Lueckemeyer, and Meta Mutscher, his brothers, Henry, Herbert, Walter, Alfred, Raymond, Melvin, Otto, Jr. and Monroe, brothers-in-law, Herbert Mutscher and Edwin Lueckemeyer, sisters-in-law, Alma, Hattie, Annie, Nelda, Dorothy Ann, Eleanor Pearl and Lillian Gaskamp. great grandson, Wyatt Schroeder. sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joyce and Eddie Longhofer, Jr. and their daughter, Janice Longhofer and several nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Bernice Gaskamp; daughters and sons-in-law:, Kathy and Robert Loflin, and Jane and Don Wellmann; grandsons: Joshua Schroeder and his friend Allison Culpepper, Justin Schroeder and his wife, Ashlea, and Jon Wellmann and his friend, Madalynn Kainer; step-grandsons, Robert, IV and Carmen Loflin, and Jeffrey Loflin; great-grandsons: Clay Schroeder, Colin Schroeder, Cade Schroeder and Jacob Schroeder; great-granddaughter, Ella Schroeder; step great-grandson: Liam Loflin; sisters-in-law: Florence Gaskamp, and Mary Longhofer and numerous nieces and nephews. Special friends include Kenny and Ann Muchow and Jana Woods.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons and great-grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers are Delwin Gaskamp, Terry Lueckemeyer, Kevin Mutscher, Charles Gaskamp, Fred Otto Gaskamp, Roger Gaskamp, Greg Gaskamp, Tommy Gaskamp, David Boenker and Ella Schroeder.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2026 at Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St. Brenham. The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Grace Lutheran Church, 1212 West Jefferson St., Brenham with Pastor Ryan Ogrodowicz officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Memorials can be given to Grace Lutheran School, Bethlehem Lutheran Church Building Fund, Hospice Brazos Valley or a charity of your choice.

The family would like to thank Brenham Nursing and Rehab for the care they have given him this last year and Chicquetta Jenkins and all her special ladies that have taken care of them through the last few years.
