Cheryl Annise Smith, 48, of Burton, Texas, passed away peacefully September 29, 2019, in College Station, Texas, after a brief illness.
Visitation will be from 6:00-7:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 4 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. A private burial will be held at St. John’s United Church of Christ Cemetery in Burton.
Cheryl was born January 23, 1971, to Carroll Clayton Smith III and Laurell Smith. She was baptized April 25, 1971, at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg and confirmed June 7, 1987, at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Burton. She attended schools in Smithville, Austin Westlake and Brenham High School.
She was a cosmetologist for several years and also worked in the medical office field. She enjoyed volunteering at Fishes and Loaves in Burton. Cheryl had an incredible love for animals, especially dogs.
Cheryl is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, E.J. and Taylor Pomykal of Hammond, LA; mother, Laurell Smith, Burton; father, Carroll C. Smith III, Mandeville, LA; sister and brother-in-law, Lauren and August Carlson, Burton; niece, Olivia Flores, Burton; nephew, Eric Flores, Burton; half-sister, Ashley Smith, Colorado; half-brother, Clayton Smith, Boerne; aunt and uncle, Lavonne and Larry Spacek, Boerne; uncle, Charles Landua, Burton; and special canine companion Macy.
Cheryl was preceded in death by grandparents, Carroll C. and Janis Smith; aunts, Christina Smith and Jana Smith; and grandparents, Charles H. and Nathalie Landua.
Memorials may be made to her favorite charity, The Wounded Warriors Foundation, or any charity of your choice.
