Charles Lubowski

June 28, 1933 — August 30, 2019

Charles Lubowski passed away Friday, August 30, 2019. A memorial service

will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Memorial Oaks

Chapel on 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, Texas 77833. Visitation will be

from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Charles was born in Houston, Texas on June 28, 1933 to Gertrude and Joe

Lubowski. The family moved to Bakersfield, California when he was a few

years old and then moved back to Houston a few years later. Charles grew

up in southeast Houston and graduated from Austin High. He was drafted

in the army and was stationed in Germany. After that returned to Houston

where he met and married his wife Evelynie in 1963. He and his wife

lived and worked in Houston until they moved to Brenham a few years

before they retired.

Charles was interested in cars and racing at an early age and was

involved with cars throughout his life. After the army he worked as a

mechanic at Bland Willis Cadillac and built and raced stock cars at

Playland Park. He quit racing when he got married and a few years later

bought the property in Brenham where he lived after he retired. He

worked for McGinnis Cadillac in the last half of his career and became

shop foreman before he retired. Charles collected older cars and Ford 8N

tractors to restore in retirement. He always liked dogs, some cats, and

wildlife, which he and his wife provided for at a level almost equal to

what some people receive. Charles' pets lived a comfortable life.

Charles is survived by his wife Evelynie, sister Toni Galloway, half

sister Laura Biquet, stepson Allan Thomas, and several cousins, nieces

and nephews.
