Charles Ray Hupe died suddenly on January 4, 2025, at the age of 71. Charles was born on June 7, 1953 in Austin County to Wilfred and Vera Lee (Wagner) Hupe. He was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Industry, Texas. Charles was a graduate of Brenham High School.
Charles was united in marriage with Deborah Wellmann on July 23, 1972 at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville, where he became a member. They were blessed with two sons; Jason and wife Tanya Hupe and Justin and wife Christine Hupe. They are also blessed with six grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Brianna and husband Jake Edmonds and Evie; Hayden Hupe, Garrett Hupe, Coltyn Hupe, Hannah Hupe and Haven Hupe, all of Brenham, Texas.
Charles enjoyed raising lambs for himself (in his younger days) and for his grandchildren to show at the county fair. He enjoyed raising fish and watching the grandchildren catch them. He also enjoyed deer hunting and worked as a carpenter for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah, of 52 years; sons and daughters-in-law, grandchildren and great granddaughter. He is also survived by his sister, Leatrice Sue and husband, Carter Dibrell of Texas City; sister-in-law, Janie Wellmann; brother-in-law, Wade Wellmann and wife Tara; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ernest and Erline Wellmann; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers include Hayden Hupe, Garrett Hupe, Wade Wellmann, Waylon Maxwell, Gary Hupe, Kevin Hupe, Brian Dibrell and Ray Dibrell.
A visitation with the family present will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville with Pastor John Van Haneghan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions in honor of Charles may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville.
