Charles Engelbrecht

November 12, 1909 — April 30, 2003

Charles Henry Engelbrecht was born Nov. 12, 1909, in Burton, TX, the son of Henry and Louise Fischer Engelbrecht. He entered into eternal rest Wednesday, April 30, 2003, in Oakland Manor Nursing Center in Giddings, TX. He was 93 years old. He was educated in the Burton School District. He was united in marriage to Dora Hohlt in Zion Lutheran Church in Zionsville Nov. 11, 1938, by Rev. J. Fred Mgebroff. Dora and Charlie lived on their farm/ranch in the Burton community essentially all their lives. He was a member of St. John s United Church of Christ in Burton. Mr. Engelbrecht resided in Oakland Manor in Giddings since October, 2002. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Dean Niday of Austin; son and daughter-in-law, Clyde and Lois Engelbrecht of Houston; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dora Engelbrecht on March 6, 2003; his brother, Henry Engelbrecht, Jr.; and sisters, Hattie Richter, Louise Heine, Mary Heine, Alvina Landua, Lorene Schroeder and Corinne Werchan. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 4 in St. John s United Church of Christ in Burton with Pastor Glen Schoeneberg officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, May 3 in Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. Memorials may be given to St. John s United Church of Christ in Burton.
