Burney Boecker

February 22, 1933 — August 14, 2019

Burney William Boecker, 86, husband of Earline Boecker, died August 14, 2019 in Brenham.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Welcome Lutheran Church of Welcome, with Pastor John Sutton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 pm. Friday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Burney Boecker was born February 22, 1933 in Welcome to Otto and Minnie Schroeder Boecker. Baptized April 30, 1933 at Welcome Lutheran Church, he was confirmed there on March 30, 1947. As a boy, he worked on the family farm. Later, he served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War with the 6th Infantry Regiment in Berlin, stationed behind the Iron Curtain. On March 9, 1957, he married Earline Krause at the Welcome Lutheran Church.

Burney was a lifelong member of the VFW Post 7104 in Brenham, and the American Legion Post 148. He was also active in his church, serving on the church council. He was engaged in farming and ranching, and worked as a painting contractor until his retirement. Favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, dancing, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Earline Boecker of Brenham; daughters, Evon Goebel of Deer Park; Brenda Cruz of Cedar Park; sons-in-law Don Goebel and James Cantu; grandchildren Ashley Goebel and Calvin Goebel; sister, Ruth Flentge; sister-in-law Floradell Boecker, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by a brother, Leon Boecker; sister, Bernita Hueske; brothers-in law Milton Flentge and Walter "Pete" Hueske.

The family wishes to thank Dr. William Loesch and Dr. Pierre Zoldhelyi, the nursing staff at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Brenham, Hospice Brazos Valley, caregiver Clara Gibson, as well as the many family members and friends who brought smiles to Burney.

Memorials may be designated to Hospice Brazos Valley or to any favorite charity.
