Bobby Leigh Thornton

Bobby Leigh Thornton, 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 27, 2026. Bobby was born on February 4, 1941, in Victoria, Virgina to Harold Dupree and Christine Palmer Thornton. He spent his youth being raised by his mother and stepfather, John M. Thornton in Galena Park, Texas.

Bobby was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend who never met a stranger. Bobby had the largest heart of all and would go above and beyond to help anyone who ever needed anything. He had a charismatic personality that was magnetic and would draw anyone in and treat them as family.

Bobby had a passion for the outdoors, fishing, writing poetry, music and let us not forget, the man in black, Johnny Cash. Bobby was a dedicated hard worker with Southwestern Bell who retired after 45+ years and made lifelong friends there, as well.

Bobby is preceded in death by his loving wife Carol Sue (Trcalek) Thornton, who he adored making a lifetime of wonderful memories for 49 years and his parents; John M. Thornton and Christine Palmer Thornton.

He will be lovingly remembered by his brother Jim Thornton (Kathy), sister Brenda Wiggins, children; Twila Vlaming, Tonya Thornton, Tabatha Butler (Derek), Trina Mansfield and Bobby Thornton (Melissa), grandchildren; Kayla French (David), Tyler Hill (Dennise), Megan Holbrook (Aaron), Joe Vlaming, April Vlaming (Michael), Kris Hall, Travis Mansfield, Sammi Hall, Mackenzie Thornton, Caeleigh Thornton and Colbey Thornton, great-grandchildren; Seth Villalovos, Austin French, Colten Lewis, Claire Moses, Ryan French, Luke French, Malachi Moses, Ava Hill, Haylee Holbrook, Julian Vlaming and Alyssa Hill and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A visitation for Bobby will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Memorial Oaks Chapel located at 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, Texas. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026 at 11:00 am at Memorial Oaks Chapel with the burial to follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery.
