Bobbie Kohring

Bobbie Ray Kohring, 62, of Brenham, died June 9, 2003, at his residence after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Kohring was born Sept. 11, 1940, in Navasota, TX, to Robert and Anita Schroeder Kohring. He was baptized Oct. 13, 1940, in Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn by Rev. C.J. Appel and was confirmed April 11, 1954, in the same church by Rev. Theo. R. Griesse. Mr. Kohring attended William Penn School and was a 1959 graduate of Brenham High School. He served in the U.S. Army. On Feb. 28, 1965, he was married to Patricia Ann Oberhoff in St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Sandy Hill by Rev. Leon Knitt. For nearly 40 years, Mr. Kohring was employed by Bluebonnet Electric. He was a district supervisor. Mr. Kohring was a faithful life member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in William Penn, where he served as president and held various other offices. He loved the family farm, fishing and spending time at the deer lease with his hunting buddies. Survivors include his wife, Pat Kohring of Brenham; son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Amanda Kohring of Brenham; daughter, Amy Kohring of Brenham; mother, Anita Kohring of Brenham; grandchildren, Brette Ashlee Kohring, Blake August Kohring and Hannah Beth Emshoff; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry Lee and Doris Kohring of Brenham, Robert Wayne and Barbara Kohring of Brenham, Valgene and Diana Kohring of Washington and Danny Kohring of Navasota and fiancée Shirley Nichols; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marilyn and Vernon Klussmann of Brenham, Sandra and Bobby Searle of Washington, Kathryn and Joe Martinez of Brenham, Diane and Chuck Boggan of Brenham and Rebecca and Ray Wellmann of Brenham; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Anita and Erich Oberhoff of Brenham; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bobbie and Linda Oberhoff of Washington and Ricky and Tammy Oberhoff of Burton; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Bobbie loved children, especially his precious granddaughters, Hannah, Brette and Blake. They were adored by their Papa. He was preceded in death by his father; an infant sister, Ruth Kohring; and sister-in-law, Connie Kohring. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11 in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in William Penn with Pastor Eldor Harmann officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10 in Memorial Oaks Chapel. Pallbearers will be his godsons and nephews: Timothy Klussmann, Michael Kohring, Randall Kohring, Rallin Wellmann, Ethan Boggan, Landon Kohring, Lance Searle, Jody Martinez, Corey Klussmann, Bradley Kohring, T.J. Martinez, Forrest Kohring and Craig Boggan. All employees of Bluebonnet Electric and Brenham Poorboy Hunters will be considered honorary pallbearers. Mr. Kohring will be missed by those who loved him but never forgotten, for he will live in the memories of the time we were given to know and love him. Memorials may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in William Penn or Hospice Brenham, 705 S. Austin St., Brenham, TX 77833. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W.
