Betty Ann Hohlt, 87, peacefully passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on April 24, 2026. She was born on October 8, 1938, to Edward Louis and Isabel "Lamp" Sehlke.
Betty was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church - Rehburg, where she was confirmed on April 6, 1952. On June 6, 1960, she married the love of her life, Elmer Hohlt, and together they shared 37 years of marriage.
She graduated from Burton High School, where she was actively involved in numerous activities including band, basketball, and volleyball. Betty made history as the first Drum Major at Burton and played the clarinet. Her deep love for music continued throughout her life. She later learned to play the organ, traveling to Galveston to study the pipe organ. A devoted and disciplined musician, Betty practiced for hours each day, striving for excellence. She faithfully shared her talent for decades as the organist at St. Paul Lutheran Church - Rehburg.
Betty also found great joy in gardening. She had a special gift for nurturing plants and could grow just about anything. Roses and lilies were among her favorites. She enjoyed canning, especially pickled beets and refrigerator pickles, but her greatest joy in the kitchen came during Christmas baking and making themed birthday cakes for her boys.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Hohlt; her parents, Edward Louis and Isabel "Lamp" Sehlke; her brother, Ed Sehlke Jr.; her nephew, Robert Sehlke; and her brother-in-law, Bobby Bredthauer.
Betty is survived by her sons, Alan (Connie) Hohlt, Glenn Hohlt, Kevin (Cathi) Hohlt and Craig (Kelly) Hohlt; her grandchildren, Neal Hohlt (Starr), Megan Harris (Daniel), Brittany Rosenbaum (Sean), step grandchildren Seth Thomas (Kathryn), and Tristan Thompson; her great-grandchildren, Freya Hohlt, Callen Harris, Maddyn Harris, Brooks Rosenbaum, and step great- granddaughter Poppy Williams; her sister, Clarice Bredthauer; her sister-in-law Ruby Sehlke; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
